Grenz-Erfahrungen. Das europäische Grenzregime im Mittelmeerraum
20 Jahren nach der faktischen Abschaffung des Grundrechts auf Asyl in Deutschland sind viele Abschottungsmechanismen gegenüber flüchtenden Menschen in bedeutendem Maße europäisiert worden. Die Zustände in zypriotischen und tunesischen Transit- und Abschiebelagern sind ein Gradmesser für die sozialen Folgen dieser Entwicklung. Sie stellen die ethische Fundierung der EU grundsätzlich in Frage.
Aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven wollen wir das EU-Grenzregime im Mittelmeerraum bei unserer Info- und Diskussionsveranstaltung am 27. Mai im taz Café beleuchten. Nach einem Überblick über die jüngsten asyl- und sicherheitspolitischen Entwicklungen an den Außengrenzen der Europäischen Union durch den Journalisten Matthias Monroy werden zwei weitere Referent_innen ihre jeweiligen Grenz-Erfahrungen schildern: Der Menschenrechtsaktivist Emmanuel Gatoni musste selbst anderthalb Jahre lang in einem Transitlager an der libysch-tunesischen Grenze leben, bevor er als einer von wenigen "Resettlement-Flüchtlingen" nach Deutschland einreisen durfte. Er wird von seinen persönlichen Erfahrungen mit dem Grenzregime und der aktuellen Situation im Lager Choucha berichten. Nora Brezger vom Flüchtlingsrat Berlin wird von einer Recherchereise berichten, mit der die Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Flüchtlinge und MigrantInnen (KuB) die Lebensbedingungen von Asylsuchenden in Zypern untersucht hat.

Border experiences. The European border regime in the Mediterranean Sea
20 years after the de facto abolition of the fundamental right to asylum in Germany, many of the mechanisms of isolation against refugees have been europeanized considerably. The situation of refugees in detention and transit camps on Cyprus and in Tunisia is emblematic for the whole European border regime, which is and develops far from moral principles and the European public awareness.
At 27th of May, with our information and discussion meeting at taz Café in Berlin Kreuzberg we want to examine different perspectives on the EU border regime. After an overview of the recent developments in the politics of asylum and security at the external borders of the European Union by the journalist Matthias Monroy, two more panelists will tell their respective "border experiences": The human rights activist Emmanuel Gatoni have had to live one and half a year in a transit camp at the border between Tunisia and Libya, before he reached as one of a few "resettlement refugees" to Germany. He will tell about his personal experiences with the border regime and the recent situation in the camp of Choucha. Nora Brezger (Berlin Refugee Council / Flüchtlingsrat Berlin) will tell about an investigation journey of the Contact and Consultation Center for Refugees and Migrants (Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Flüchtlinge und MigrantInnen, KuB) that scrutinized the living conditions of asylum seekers in Cyprus.

Expériences aux frontières. Le régime européenne des frontières dans le Méditerranée
20 ans après l’abrogation réel de l’asile comme droit fondamental dans la République fédérale d'Allemagne, beaucoup de mécanismes de l' exclusion des réfugiées sont européanisés. Les situations dans les camps de transit et de déportations tunisiens et cypriotes sont un indicateur pour les conséquences sociales de ce développement. Ils remettent en question la fondation éthique de l' UE.
Après un bref aperçu des récents développements de la politique d' asile et de sécurité aux frontières extérieures de l' UE par le journaliste Matthias Monroy, deux autres personnes parleront de leurs expériences avec les frontières : Emmanuel Gatoni – activiste humanitaire – qui a du vivre dans un camp de transit chez la frontière libyo-tunisienne pendant un ans et demi, parlera de ses expériences personnelle avec le régime de frontières et la situation actuelle à Choucha. Nora Brezger – Flüchtlingsrat Berlin – rapportera d' un voyage de recherche avec la KuB Berlin (lieu de consultation et contact pour les réfugiés et migrants) pendant laquelle les conditions de vie de demandeurs d' asile à Chypre étaient étudiées.
